Friday 20th @ 15:00 - First dress rehearsal over

The dress rehearsal started about 10 minutes after the scheduled time.   Beautiful graphics are opening the show.  First shots in the hall show a modern dance with green lanterns.  Ruslana and her "Wild" dancers walk on stage for another "wild" performance of her new single, "Heart on Fire".  She is using pyrotechnics during this performance.  Ruslana is wearing white fur, leather and silver pieces on her dress.  Dancers are all in white.  Costumes are in true "Wild Dances" style.

Hosts are next up on stage.  Lilac dress for Maria and a tuxedo for Pasha.  After a lengthy introduction, advertising the latest fans' must have "Eurovision Book".  The introduction was concluded with the typical "Let the show begin..."

01. Hungary

NOX (c) malta.ogae.net

Nothing special to add to this performance. Same as in the qualifier round.

02. UK

Javine (c)malta.ogae.net

Backing vocalists/dancers are in reds.  Javine is wearing a short golden dress. It was announced earlier that she had sore throat problems but she still tried her best.

03. Malta

Chiara (c)malta.ogae.net

Long reddish dress with embedded precious stones all over.   A splendid performance indeed which made the audience go wild with loud cheers and applauses throughout the song.  Looks like we stand very good chances to end top-5.  She's loved by the audience in the hall.

04.  Romania

Luminita & Sistem (c)malta.ogae.net

Looks like another wonderful performance by Sistem & Luminita.  Very powerful, just like they did in the semifinal.  Loud cheers from the audience.

05.  Norway

Wig Wam (c)malta.ogae.net

Another popular act with the audience in the hall.  Wig Wam performed with the orange scarf on the microphone stand.  In the past days they were asked to use another colour, just because of the political implications of the colour 'orange' in Ukraine, but they are stubborn enough to keep using the same one.

06. Turkey

Gulseren (c)malta.ogae.net

A very ethnic touch for this entry.  Costumes, dances and drum beating are all typical of a Turkish entry.  Gulseren is wearing a green and pink dress with golden touches.  She received a good applause from the hall.

07. Moldova

Zdob si Zdub (c) malta.ogae.net

The lead singer of Zdob si Zdub changed the costume (hardly any now!).  This band seems to be one of the favourites to win the title here!  I found out that they are one of the top bands in this region of Europe and that might be one reason why they are doing so good here.

08. Albania

Ledina Celo (c)malta.ogae.net

Very oriental costumes for the Albanian team.  Colours are in Red and White.  Dancers play fake white violins.  Ledina is dressed in a long white dress with a spanish cut exposing her left leg.

09. Cyprus

Constantinos (c) malta.ogae.net

A strong performance from Chiara's best friend, Constantinos and his team.  He's wearing a white tight-fit t-shirt, black trousers and...silver gloves.  A short white dress with large flowy sleeves for his Greek vocalist, Elina.  Two female dancers and vocalists wear silver dresses while the 2 male dancers are wearing in true street-dancers style.  Silver oil-tanks on stage for Cyprus.

10. Spain

Son del Sol (c) malta.ogae.net

Loads of colours for the Spanish girls.  A happy tune, definately one to go down pretty well with kids at home!

11. Israel

Shiri (c) malta.ogae.net

Now that Netherlands is out, this is going to be Malta's one true competitior for the battle of the ballads.  She received a strong applauce from the audience.  Will we assist to yet another Malta Vs Israel?

12. Serbia & Montenegro

No Name (c)malta.ogae.net

No Name mebers are wearing leather jackets/trousers set against a red stage.  They look like a 6-piece boy band gone back to pop-ethno.  Still they got a big applauce from the hall.

COMMERCIAL BREAK!

13. Denmark

Jackob (c) malta.ogae.net

Denmark is up with a performance similar to the one they gave in the semi-finals, last night.

14. Sweden

Martin (c) malta.ogae.net

Martin is wearing black leather.  White leather for the 4 girls on stage with him.  Good performance, loved by the audience.

15. FYR Macedonia

Make my day...go away! (c) malta.ogae.net

This is same as in the semifinals.

16.  Ukraine

GreenJolly (c) malta.ogae.net

Green stage for GreenJolly.  Two guys dance on stage. They start with chains around their hands and break free after a later stage.  Rest of band members on stage.

17.  Germany

Gracia (c) malta.ogae.net

Black costume for the rocker Gracia.  An ok song but too repetitive for my liking.  Don't know why but at times she reminds me of Ruslana.

18.  Croatia

Boris & Lado members (c)malta.ogae.net

Boris and Lado members look and sound the same as they were last night.

19. Greece

Helena (c) malta.ogae.net

Now this is one of the most loved by the audience in the hall. She gave a very good performance with an energetic and syncronised choregraphy.  Looks clean and slick.  At one point Helena stretches three strings and is lifted up.  This is followed by her playing the 'cello'.

20. Russia

Natalia (c) malta.ogae.net

A very good performance by red haired Natalia.  It's a rockish number...a style which is really popular in the hall.

21. Bosnia & Herzegovina

Feminem (c)malta.ogae.net

Silk dresses for the Call me babes from Bosnia.  This is another entry which is really popular with the fans, perhaps because of its ABBA appeal.  A lot of shouting here!

22.  Switzerland

Vanilla Ninja (c)malta.ogae.net

Good performance, not different from last night. Very popular in the hall.

23. Latvia

Walters & Kazha (malta.ogae.net)

Walters (taller guy) lost his voice and was asked not to sing during this first dress rehearsal.  Rest was same as yesterday.

24. France

Ortal (c) malta.ogae.net

Green/yellow dress for Ortal.  Five dancers in black start off seated on a chair. An ok performance but nothing special.
